Alexis LaBroi WAVEThe Meeting Professionals International (MPI) Potomac chapter recently named Alexis La Broi their “Star of the Quarter.” Alexis is an Account Manager with our Hotels and Event Production team in Columbia, MD. She also serves as co-chair for the MPI Potomac chapter Sponsorship Committee.

Alexis was recognized for her efforts to build long-term relationships with the sponsors, recruiting new members to the committee and even stepping up as a sponsor herself. Her nomination focused on her role in the group. “Given the financial goals of this committee, we have to run like a business. Thank goodness Alexis is our CFO: Chief Financial/ Fixing/ Fired Up/ Fun Officer.”

“She is a gem and our success would not be here without her,” says Melissa R. Benowitz, MPI Potomac Chapter Association Manager.

Case Story: Demo Center for Pharmacy Benefit Company

The Catamaran pharmacy benefit company in Chicago recently branched out to a downtown building where it gives guests a firsthand experience of its offerings. The Catamaran case story at the AVI-SPL site includes a video in which our engineers and the project architects discuss the benefits of the video walls and interactive displays.

In this video, you’ll see the systems we integrated from manufacturers like Crestron (for AV control), Biamp (audio distribution), Christie (video walls), and NEC (video displays). Others, not mentioned in the video, but critical to giving the client what it wanted, include the LifeSize video conferencing that powers the Caméléon Telepresence system, and the endpoints in three conference rooms, and the Tannoy speakers that provide sound distribution in conference rooms and the lobby area.

Equipping the Hunt Library at N.C. State for Sound and Signal Distribution

North Carolina State Hunt LibraryFor the massive audio visual install at North Carolina State’s James B. Hunt Jr. Library, AVI-SPL installed solutions including video conferencing, interactive video walls, digital signage, kiosks, touch panels, cameras, projectors, video displays and advanced sound systems. To pull many of these components together, our engineers used Belden cables throughout the facility.

Tannoy speakers are also prevalent throughout the install. Our engineers went with Tannoy for multiple meeting rooms, and 32 pendant speakers for the Creative Studio. The pendant speaker solution was necessary because of the room’s open ceiling.

Case Story: Traffic Management Centers

Traffic Management Center - MiamiThe SunGuide Traffic Management Center in Tampa oversees sections of I-275, I-75 and I-4.  AVI-SPL’s Control Room Group (CRG) designed and integrated a solution for the facility that enables staff to monitor and respond to traffic situations. Cameras send location video to the display wall at the center. That display consists of 67-inch Mitsubishi cubes, which are powered by Barco image processors. The processors enable operators to control the layout of the video presentation.

AVI-SPL has provided the same services for other FDOT locations, include the Sunguide Traffic Management Center in Miami. That facility includes a 10-foot-by-31-foot video wall that gives operators a simultaneous view of over 40 video sources. Read more about the FDOT-Miami project and how the systems we programmed and installed help control traffic.
