AVI-SPL partner Tannoy is known for delivering professional-grade audio in commercial venues. So it’s no surprise that the company is at SXSW in Austin, Texas, powering the bands with its VQ series PA at The British Music Embassy at Latitude. Tannoy shared the pic below on its Instagram account.
AVI-SPL has used Tannoy products in many projects for our clients — including Hakkasan in Dubai. Tannoy’s commercial audio products were showcased at last week’s ISE 2014 and included:
- CVS and DVS audio lines
- QFlex steerable column arrays
- VX series sound reinforcement
- CMS ceiling loudspeakers

As AVI-SPL is a partner with Tannoy, I headed over to its booth at InfoComm earlier this month to learn about its newest audio products. The appeal of its sister company Lab.gruppen’s just-launched LUCIA (Localized Utility Compact Intelligent Amplification) is that it takes a decentralized approach to distributing audio. LUCIA provides high-quality audio designed for small lecture spaces, classrooms, boardrooms, and bars and restaurants. Some of its features:
- 4×4 mix matrix
- 2 × 60 W (LUCIA 120/2) or 2 × 120 W (LUCIA 240/2) into 8, 4 or 2 ohms
- Fail-safe operation
For the Hakkasan restaurant in Dubai, UAE, AVI-SPL implemented a high-quality audio system, using Tannoy speakers to get the powerful, warm sound that would allow patrons to hold conversations while they dine. Such was the attention to detail and satisfying the client, that AVI-SPL and Tannoy worked to customize the loudspeakers so that they disappear in the environment and maintain the venue’s aesthetics. Read about the project on page 58 of mondo*dr magazine and see the list the Tannoy products that AVI-SPL used to make it a success.
In the video below, AVI-SPL Project Manager Phil Marlowe discusses the Hakkasan projects in Dubai and Abu Dhabi, and how their success led to four additional locations using Tannoy solutions.
A successful integration is more than the sum of its high-profile equipment and solutions – those displays and video conferencing equipment that provide the “wow factor.” Florida International University’s new home for its School of International and Public Affairs (SIPA) required the latest audiovisual presentation solutions for areas including a 300-plus seat auditorium, two distance-learning interactive classrooms, multimedia classrooms, and two conference rooms with high-definition video conferencing capabilities. And while there’s plenty of “wow” to be seen, AVI-SPL delivered the signals and sounds by implementing solutions by TV One, Tannoy, Liberty AV and Extron.
Tannoy speakers deliver clear, strong audio to attendees in the conference and boardrooms, and Liberty AV wall and floor plates are essential to making connections in the auditorium, classrooms and boardroom.
All of the video signal distribution and amplification is handled by Extron solutions while signal scaling and up, down and cross conversion is trusted to TV One equipment. Discover additional solutions that AVI-SPL used when you read the project profile of AVI-SPL’s integration for FIU SIPA.
