For the 9th consecutive year, AVI-SPL Creative Show Services joined thousands of spectators at the America’s Freedom Festival in Provo, UT to celebrate Independence Day at the event that dates back to 1870s. The signature event is Stadium of Fire that takes place on July 4th and has been ongoing for the past 33 years.
The event attracts an average of 40,000 visitors from all 50 states and is televised to more than 1 million military men and women around the world via American Forces Network.
While the rest of the country was celebrating, the CS2 team was behind the scenes, making sure that the event goes as planned. AVI-SPL provided all media control-playback equipment, and created all lighting and visual elements during the entire Stadium of Fire. Those included creative designs for the performance of six-time Grammy Award winner Carrie Underwood, who headlined the event together with J.R. Martinez, a U.S. Army veteran and winner of ABC’s season 13 of Dancing with the Stars. Mimi Knowles opened up for Underwood and kept the crowd entertained together with Studio C, a sketch comedy show cast from Brigham Young University TV, the Stadium of Fire Dancers, and Flippenout acrobatics.
The celebration culminated with fireworks over LaVell Edwards Stadium, said to be the largest stadium fireworks show in America.
