You’ll notice some new features when you get to the material type and size page after you’ve upgraded to 2.0 for your VariQuest Cutout Maker. You are now able to cut vinyl and magnet. Stick the vinyl to your windows and encourage students to stare “out” the window since now the window has visual learning tools like word walls or math formulas posted on them. The vinyl is also a great way to print letters and headings to designate a portion of your room that you use year round. For example, if you have an area where you post student work, create your letters from the vinyl and stick it to the wall that way. Simply change out the student work with each lesson, but keep the headings up year round. The transfer tape is an easy way to transfer the lettering to its final destination too. You can stick the letters to the transfer tape, remove the adhesive backing from the vinyl and then transfer to the wall slowly peeling the transfer tape to reveal the final product.
Why not also create magnets to sell from your school store? Use your mascot or write out “class of” years to promote school spirit. Magnets are great to stick in their school lockers too. You could even do a fundraiser letting the student select what words to cut. Charge per letter or inch to make a profit.
Note to Cutout Maker Customers who are downloading the software: If you are a shapes credit user, you’ll want to activate all of your shapes prior to upgrading to 2.0. The credits are not compatible with the new software, so any credits you’ve not used, you’ll lose. You will not lose the shapes you’ve unlocked – those are yours forever.
