The Creative Show Services Team Welcomes Andrea Bocelli to Tampa

Our Creative Show Services team is excited to announce that Andrea Bocelli is returning to Tampa on December 14th for his Christmas tour. The world renowned tenor will be joined by conductor Eugene Kohn, soprano Svetla Vassileva and guest vocalist Heather Headley.

As we informed you earlier this year, Bocelli kicked off his 2013 U.S. Tour “Passione” with a show-stopping concert on February 8th in Sunrise, FL. The tenor sang to a crowd of more than 12,000, delivering a pop and operatic performance that drew standing ovations during several encores. Bocelli performed the well-known “Quizás, Quizás, Quizás” and “New York, New York” among many other favorites.

The Christmas tour, which is part of the “Passione” tour, started on December 7th in Las Vegas and the last stop will be in Atlanta, GA on December 15th. Of course, the entire event would not be complete without the incredible support of our own team from Creative Show Services, led by executive producer John Orchard and technical director Keith Lasher.

For the past 12 years, AVI-SPL has supplied all video and lighting equipment for Bocelli’s U.S. tours. This year the staging features a 60`x40` LED screen that projects live segments from the concert combined with imagery provided by the Bocelli creative group. A team of 15 people from AVI-SPL, 5 lighting and 10 video operators, together with 30 local stage hands, work each show.

CS2 Brings PhoCusWright Conference to the Big Screen

For the 11th consecutive year, our Creative Show Services team is gearing up for one of the biggest annual events in the online travel, tourism and hospitality industry, The 2013 PhoCusWright Conference November 19-21 in Hollywood, Florida.

About The PhoCusWright Event

The conference is the flagship event of PhoCusWright – a leading travel and hospitality industry research company. Every year, the three-day event attracts an average of 1,600 attendees who gather together to share industry know-how; learn about market-changing innovations, technologies and solutions; obtain fresh ideas; and create new partnerships and investment opportunities.

This year’s keynote speakers include the CEOs of major corporations including Expedia, Kayak, TripAdvisor, Priceline, Orbitz, and Booking.com, as well as representatives from Google, IBM, and Facebook.

The conference will be streamed live for those unable to travel to Florida for the event. Additionally, attendees and online viewers will be able to utilize social media to interact with the speakers and moderators, who will see a live-feed of questions and comments.

During the Travel Innovation Summit, which is part of the conference, a panel of judges will determine the award winners in select categories including Startup, Emerging, Established, Best B2B and Best B2C companies, as well as the People’s Choice Award. The top award, sponsored by the leading venture capital firm General Catalyst Partners is a $250,000 convertible bridge loan to the travel technology company that demonstrates the most groundbreaking travel solution.

Our Partnership: 11 Years and Beyond

An event of such scope requires intense preparation. We’ve worked closely with the event’s Executive Producer Richard Zucker for the last 11 annual events, and this close relationship allows us to successfully translate his creative vision to the stage year after year. The dynamics of this show require many months of meetings as concepts are developed and come to life for each year’s event. These efforts are led by CS2’s Producer Bill Baxter and a team of nearly 30 members working to support the event theme through HD animations, graphic packages, videos, lighting and audio effects.

This year, we are projecting on giant 120 ft. x 15 ft. screens using state-of-the-art Spyder technologies. In addition, we incorporate television-style Chyron graphics that you see on network sports and news programs. Our executive team describes this event as a cross between a network television show and a live sporting event environment.

Creative Show Services support Governor Bush’s Educational Summit

Boston, Mass. – AVI-SPL’s Creative Show Services team took part in the 2013 National Summit on Education Reform that was held Oct. 17-18.

The Summit is the flagship initiative of the Foundation for Excellence in Education. FEE was founded in 2008 by former Florida Governor Jeb Bush. The National Summit’s main goal is to share strategies to improve the quality of education for all children. The two-day reform event attracted 800+ participants from across America and around the world, combined with heavy media attention. In addition, all sessions were made available to the general public via live stream.

For AVI-SPL, this was the second year to service the event. Last year the Summit took place in Washington, D.C. We provided all the audio, video, lighting equipment, as well as the set designs. For the Strategy Sessions, we created smaller stage sets that matched the look and feel of the General Session.

Governor Bush personally acknowledged AVI-SPL’s professionalism saying, “Thank you for the great AV work at our Summit. I am so appreciative.”

Creative Show Services Present Tampa Small Business of the Year Awards

Congratulations to all of the local companies honored at the Greater Tampa Chamber of Commerce 2013 Small Business of the Year Awards. More than 800 guests, including the City of Tampa Mayor Bob Buckhorn and AVI-SPL CEO John Zettel joined the ceremony at the Tampa Convention Center to recognize and celebrate the accomplishments of Tampa Bay’s small business community.

In a previous blog post, I told you how AVI-SPL Creative Show Services played a significant role in the preparation and execution of the event. CS2 has been participating in the annual celebration for 10+ years. This year, we created all video content, compiled all of the voiceovers and themed music, and provided the sound, lighting, video, screens and projectors for the event.

The theme this year was “The Magic of Small Business” and featured magician and illusionist Nathan Coe Marsh who was also recommended by CS2. Throughout the evening, Nathan entertained the guests as a host and wowed them with his illusions. Behind the scenes, our professional crew led by producer Brenda Curry worked just as hard to ensure the event was a magical experience.

3D Image Mapping: Giant Hearts on Fire Diamond Replica

"Hearts on Fire Diamond" "Creative Show Services"When Hearts On Fire, a jewelry crafting company, approached us at Creative Show Services to create a 6-foot exact replica of The World’s Most Perfectly Cut Diamond®, we knew 3D image mapping was the right solution. It took our team six weeks to engineer and build the model for Hearts on Fire to display at JCK 2013, North America’s leading jewelry annual event in Las Vegas.

What distinguishes Hearts On Fire from any other diamond is that it captures the light in such a way that it reveals eight perfectly symmetrical hearts in the design, a feature that made the CS2 team’s job even more challenging.

Initially, the client approached us with the idea for a hologram presentation, but our creative team suggested something even better – a 3D product that looks as real as the actual diamond. The six-week long project launched with the creation of the basic form with Wysiwyg editor. Next, we created a 3D model of the diamond using Lightwave 3D software. On-site and with direct access to the actual Hearts on Fire diamond, we used Cinema 4D media server for all the custom content production. An aluminum frame was covered with hard-coated foam and then covered in screen goo paint for reflection of the projected images.

The real challenge was how to make the foam not only shine like a diamond, but to replicate precisely the Hearts On Fire unique light aspects. We applied a bullet-time technique with eight cameras to record every facet of the diamond. During the actual event, CS2 utilized two Pandora’s Box media servers and four Panasonic 20K DLP projectors for real time 3D compositing and projection.

The final product was a crowd-stopping, perfect replica of the Hearts on Fire diamond. Watch the video to see the final project in action, as well as go behind-the-scenes with the production team.
