Project Spotlight: Tannoy speakers, Sony HD Camera and Contemporary Research

At AVI-SPL we like to take the opportunity to single out some of the valued manufacturers we rely on to bring our clients the quality solutions they expect. In a recently completed project for the Pennsylvania performance center ArtsQuest at SteelStacks, AVI-SPL employed Tannoy, Sony and Contemporary Research products.

Tannoy speakers throughout the public spaces handle foreground music and paging. AVI-SPL engineers say they were selected for their efficiency, audio bandwidth, coverage consistency, sound quality and aesthetic fit with the architecture.

Sony HD Cam complements the NEC Digital Cinema projectors in the two theaters that comprise the Frank Banko Alehouse Cinema.  HD-SDI video from the deck is fed into a processor to de-embed encoded digital audio in the AES/EBU format. Audio is routed to the Dolby Cinema processors where it is decoded and converted to left, center, right and surround channels for amplifiers.  The HD-SDI video component is then sent to the projectors.

Contemporary Research Encoder/Modulators distribute video content from  AMX digital video player/servers. They are also available to send feeds from the Musikfest Cafe video camera and other sources.

Watch a brief video overview of how AVI-SPL turned ArtsQuest at SteelStacks into a state-of-the-art performance center.

Contemporary Research’s 232-Amp+ is a programmable mixer/amplifier that integrates with video projectors and flat-panel displays, offering twice the power over its predecessor. When mounted and used in conjunction with a CR tuner, the 232-Amp+ becomes an AV tuning/audio solution for projectors. Though the mono inputs are fixed, volume and max/min gain are programmable.

Features:

  • Stereo line-level audio input
  • Two mono aux inputs
  • Drives stereo speakers at 32W watts per channel @ 8 ohms, 40W per channel @ 4 ohms
  • Energy-efficient Class D amplifier
