VGo Telepresence Robot Rolls in at CES 2011

In the following video, Brad Kayton talked about his company’s VGo telepresence robot at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas.

This 4-foot tall teleconferencing breakthrough on wheels is really something to behold. VGo lets you see, hear, talk and move around freely throughout a distant location as if you were there. As you’ll see, Kayton calls it “your avatar in a remote location.”

Imagine being able to not only communicate with others via a teleconference, but also being able to freely move about a space hundreds or even thousands of miles away. With VGo, you’re able to check in on contractors or visit a district area without the expense or hassle of travel.

VGo isn’t your typical, static videoconferencing solution where people on both sides of the call must be sitting in front of a camera. VGo provides remote-controlled mobility and offers two-way video and audio. It’s also very easy to use, thanks to a simple point-and-click user interface.

AVI-SPL’s Alyson Seeger has joined the Glazer Children’s Museum’s board of directors. As a board member, Seeger’s key objective will be to help raise awareness and funds for the privately funded 501 (c) 3 museum.

Based in Tampa, Seeger joined AVI-SPL’s systems engineering department in a sales capacity in 1989. Over the years she has held several management positions and currently leads a sales team of eight for the Tampa to Naples territory. On top of developing her sales team, she focuses involvement in the community.

“I am very honored to serve on Glazer Children’s Museum’s board,” said Seeger. “The facility is gorgeous and a dream come true for many board members who have served before me. These key contributors have worked diligently for 15 years to see this museum a reality.”

Al Najjar, President/CEO, Glazer Children’s Museum: “We are pleased to have Alyson on our board and are certain that her vast experience will be a great asset to the direction and mission of the museum.”

Nestled in Downtown Tampa, Glazer Children’s Museum opened its doors to the public on September 25th, 2010, providing a safe and playful environment where children and adults can learn about themselves, each other, and the world around them through. The 53,000 square foot museum includes 12 themed areas including 170 ‘Interactivities’ that are accessible, bilingual, safe and interactive. Named after the Glazer Family Foundation for their lead gift of $5 million, construction of the museum building began in March 2009 and was completed in April 2010. The museum was designed by the architecture team GouldEvans and the construction manager for the project was DeLotto and Sons, Inc.

How CRG Puts Together a Winning Security System

When AVI SPL’s Control Room Group (CRG) designed and upgraded the surveillance system at an assisted living facility, it conducted a comprehensive survey and interview process to find areas for improvement. With the critical information in hand, CRG used its know-how and Mitsubishi technology to improve the safety and streamline business processes for The Rosewood House II in Dunedin, Fla.

You can read the complete Security Products profile of this project, which gives detailed information on the equipment used in the install and includes insights from key CRG team members. Most imporantly, it shows how the equipment has made it easier for Rosewood administrators to monitor guests and employees, and improve its resource allocation.
